Keywords are the main instruments for driving your SEO. Keywords are the terms and phrases that describe your content and purpose. They are the common terms that customers will enter into search engines, often referred to as “search queries.”

Keywords should be intentionally woven into the content of the article in titles, subtitles, and within the first and last paragraphs. Forms of the keywords should be naturally woven within the main bodies of the text.  

A major mistake to avoid is trying to “keyword stuff,” or artificially loading keywords into strategic places. This usually leaves the reading of the text stiff and awkward. When seeking to optimize your website’s presence, you don’t want to focus only on content. You also want to learn how to skillfully use the format of your text to promote your message. This can be done through the strategic use of header tags. Learn what header tags are, how they relate to a website’s SEO, and how to effectively use them.

Header tags are used within the HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) system for tagging files to achieve color, font, graphics, and hyperlinks on the web. The header tags are designated through a series of symbols in the code for the setup of the page: <h1>, ,<h2>, <h3>. 

Header tags are usually larger texts that stand out from the rest of the content and designate the title or other emphasized text on the page. Each subsequent number designates a lesser degree of importance on the page. It is preferable to use one <h1> tag per page, and more than one of the lesser tags as needed. This is similar to the format of a heading with several subheadings. 

Effectively communicate and use header tags by following these guidelines:

Your header tags should provide clear, simple organization for your page. Headings and subheadings should be direct, informing the reader of the information that is found within the text that follows. Think of header tags as a table of contents, with the <h1> tag introducing the title, <h2> pointing to the subtitles or topics, and so forth.

Less than a fifth of internet users read articles word for word. The rest are scanning content to find what is applicable for them. You want a web page that is attractively broken up into digestible bites. Header tags are very effective in making an article easy to scan, review, and share.

            Header tags should contain effective keywords throughout the layout, and keywords are further emphasized with the separate lines, text sizes, and fonts of header tags.
